What EFRAG provides
EFRAG’s digital resources include a blank Excel template, a pre-filled example, an explanatory note and a converter. The spreadsheet contains conditional questions, calculations and consistency checks. The separate converter produces a digital report and validates its XBRL.
Download the current files from EFRAG’s own resource page so you can check the version and instructions together. The template was developed for Excel 365; EFRAG warns that other spreadsheet applications or older Excel versions may behave differently.
The template supports both Basic and Comprehensive reporting. It can suit you if you are comfortable working in Excel and want to manage the report as a spreadsheet. Follow its guidance to see which questions apply to your business.
Create the report through guided questions
Our tool asks for your company information step by step. Start with the reporting period and business activities, then answer the applicable questions. Help text, units and an energy calculator support the figures you enter.
The questionnaire covers the VSME Basic Module and creates a PDF you can read and share. Digital files are also included if your recipient needs them. You can see the finished example report before entering any company information.

Bring the information you already have
You can use figures from accounts, utility invoices or an existing spreadsheet when answering the questionnaire. Keep their period, units and source references with your company’s records. The worked answer examples show how.
You will need to enter the figures into the questionnaire: this tool does not import EFRAG spreadsheets. You can begin with what you have and return when the remaining records arrive.
